Taunton Man Pleads Guilty to Repeat Armed Robbery Offenses
TAUNTON (WBSM) — A repeat armed robber from Taunton was found guilty of committing two robberies in November 2022 and was sentenced to serve six to nine years in state prison.
Devante Fisher, 31, pleaded guilty on Thursday, March 28 to indictments charging him with armed robbery and unarmed robbery.
On November 12, 2022, Fisher walked into Sunoco Gas Station in Taunton while holding a screwdriver, directing it at the clerk in what police called an aggressive manner.
The clerk was holding $60 of her own money behind the register. Fisher demanded she open the cash register and waved the weapon towards her. Fisher took $180 from the clerk and fled the scene.
On November 14, 2022, Fisher walked into Girlie Variety Store in Taunton, approached the clerk by walking behind the counter, and demanded he open the cash register. Fisher took about $2550 from the register before he fled.
Surveillance footage captured Fished in both robberies. Taunton Police arrested him on November 15, 2022.
Fisher previously served a four to six-year state prison term after being convicted in 2015 of armed robbery and possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
