As a parent, there’s something about finding a lost stuffed animal that hits the heart strings. Maybe it’s because deep down, we all know it probably belongs to a child somewhere who’s wondering where their favorite little buddy disappeared to.

That’s exactly what happened recently at the Dunkin’ on Weir Street in Taunton, where a small burger plush toy was accidentally left behind in the parking lot. Ugh, as a new dad, I felt this one deep inside.

Instead of tossing it into a lost-and-found bin and forgetting about it, employee Jules Fleet decided to give the little guy a temporary new life while trying to track down the rightful owner. What started as a simple Facebook post quickly turned into a heartfelt effort that caught my attention.

“I lost my owner in the Dunkin' parking lot on Weir St in Taunton,” Fleet jokingly wrote from the burger plush’s point of view. “So far I’ve been having fun taking orders and making coffee but I miss my owner.” The internet immediately fell in love with him.

From Lost Toy to Dunkin' Employee

Instead of sitting forgotten on a shelf somewhere, the tiny burger plush suddenly found himself clocking in for work at Dunkin'. Fleet began posting updates about the toy’s “daily adventures,” saying “Today I got to wear a visor, learn how to use the headset to take orders, I learned how to cook, I had my 1st Boston Kreme Donut and coffee on my break, and I even earned a tip.”

But underneath all the laughs and adorable photos was a surprisingly heartfelt message.

“I’m having so much fun with the crew here but I really miss my family,” the post continued. “I really miss you and want to go home.”

Social Media Is Fully Invested

Fleet told Fun 107 that people have become heavily invested in the burger plush’s story.

“People are loving this and following his daily happenings!” she said. In a social media world usually filled with stress and negativity, this tiny burger working the Dunkin' drive-thru somehow became the wholesome content people didn’t know they needed.

Comment sections quickly filled with people rooting for the plush toy to reunite with its owner. Others joked that he deserved Employee of the Month, while some admitted they were emotionally attached after only a couple updates.

There’s Just One Catch Before He Goes Home

As funny and heartwarming as the story has become, Fleet said she wants to make absolutely sure the burger plush ends up back with the correct family.

“Somehow I have to post that I will need proof of ownership so he gets back to the rightful owner,” Fleet said. “He’s getting pretty popular now and I don’t want just anyone trying to claim him.”

So if this adorable little burger belongs to someone you know, Fleet said photos or proof will likely be needed before the reunion happens. Until then, the tiny Dunkin' employee remains hard at work in Taunton making coffee, taking orders, and patiently waiting to finally go home.
