TAUNTON (WBSM) — Taunton Police are investigating after a person believed to be homeless was struck by a vehicle Wednesday evening.

According to Chief Edward Walsh, the department responded to the area of 11 Court Street at about 5:45 p.m. on November 20.

Police arrived to find a man suffering from serious injuries after being struck by a 2012 Nissan Altima. The man was transported by MedFlight to a local hospital.

Walsh said the driver of the Altima remained on the scene and was cooperating with investigators.

“The unidentified white male pedestrian is believed to be approximately 60-70 years old and may be a member of the homeless population,” Walsh said.

The crash remains under investigation and anyone with information on the crash or the identity of the victim is asked to contact Taunton Police at (508) 821-1475.
