Taunton High School Crossing Guard Arrested On Assault Charges

TAUNTON (WBSM) — The Taunton Police Department is investigating an incident involving a school crossing guard that occurred this morning.

At approximately 7:30 a.m., Taunton Police responded to Taunton High School for a report of a disturbance involving a Taunton School District crossing guard and occupants of a motor vehicle.

As a result of an investigation, the crossing guard, Louis Chaves, 68, of Taunton, was arrested by Taunton Police.

He is charged with three counts of assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon.

Chaves was arraigned today in Taunton District Court.
