TAUNTON (WBSM) — Taunton firefighters were able to quickly extinguish a small house fire on Tuesday night.

According to Chief Steven Lavigne, a call came in about 7:43 p.m. on February 18 reporting that there was smoke in the home at 36 Tremont Street, but no fire.

That call came in on the department’s business line, Lavigne said, but then immediately after a call came in via 911 reporting black smoke and crackling sounds in the house.
