TAUNTON (WBSM) — Taunton Police are investigating after a man was shot early this morning.

Chief Edward Walsh said officers responded to Morton Hospital at about 2:30 a.m. today for a report of a gunshot victim seeking treatment.

The victim was a 38-year-old Taunton man who was being treated for multiple “serious but not life-threatening gunshot wounds,” according to Walsh. He said the victim was stabilized and transferred to another local hospital for further treatment.

His name was not released.

Walsh said the shooting is believed to have occurred in the area of 31 Winthrop Street. No further information was released.

The incident remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact Taunton Police detectives at (508) 821-1475.
