TAUNTON (WBSM) — Authorities are investigating after a child was struck by a vehicle Monday in Taunton.

According to Police Chief Edward Walsh, first responders received multiple 911 calls at about 7:20 p.m. on June 10 reporting a child was struck by a motor vehicle on Whittenton Street, between Fourth Avenue and Fifth Avenue.

The 11-year-old had to be medflighted to a local hospital.

Walsh said the driver of the vehicle remained on scene and provided a statement to investigators.

Taunton Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
