A Massachusetts man wanted on six warrants, led State Police on a chase Friday from Taunton through a half-dozen communities before surrendering in Rockland.

According to a press release, Taunton Police and Massachusetts Parole Officers converged on a residence in Taunton Friday morning, hoping to take 47-year old Giovanni Acevedo of Woburn into custody.

Acevedo however, fled the area in a white Mercedes sedan, driving over the front lawn, mowing down some bushes, and nearly striking the officers.

State Police say he led Police on a chase along Route 24 both north and south, and through several surrounding towns before going off the road on Route 139 in Rockland while trying to avoid stop-sticks set by Rockland Police.
