A missing nursing home resident was spotted and rescued early Saturday thanks to a coordinated effort by state and local police.

On March 21 at about 1:25 a.m., Wareham Police responded to the Tremont Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center at 605 Main Street for an alarm activation and report of a missing patient.

Several Wareham police officers began searching the area. They were aided by the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department, Massachusetts State Police, the Southeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council Search and Rescue Team as well as members of the Wareham Department of Natural Resources.

State Police in an Air Wing helicopter eventually spotted the patient "lying down in vegetation nearby," according to the Wareham Police Department. The patient was transported to the hospital for an examination.
