As the SouthCoast counts down the days until Monday, we are hoping and praying that the number of new cases and hospitalizations in the Commonwealth continues to decline, allowing our lives and commerce to slowly return to normal. Each morning on The Rock and Fox Show, we'll spotlight a SouthCoast business leader who is fighting to continue to grow even during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This morning, we spoke to Paul Flanagan, the longtime owner of Aaron Pools and Spas on Route 6 in Dartmouth. Paul says COVID-19 has impacted him and his business tremendously because of the level of concern he has for his staff and customers.

"We're plugging along at a pace that's healthy and safe to move at," says Flanagan.

Even though staffing is at a premium right now, Flanagan says he's trying to keep his team fresh.

"These guys are used to working 50 or 60 hours a week during our prime time, but I'm trying to keep them rested to hopefully keep them strong and boost their immunity," he said.

If the COVID-19 crisis is financially hitting the SouthCoast, someone forgot to tell Aaron's.

"I've been doing this since 1994, and don't get me wrong, I don't have everyone I normally have on my staff working for me right now which is going to make everyone busier, but I do not think I've had a busier spring when it comes to people looking for information about an above ground pool, an inground pool or a hot tub," Flanagan said. "It's never, ever been this busy for us."

Are they hiring?

"Oh, with bells on! We are hiring for service technicians, for laborers on construction crews, for in house help at the office," said Flanagan. "There's so much work!"
