BOSTON — The Massachusetts State Police are implementing a sobriety checkpoint in Bristol County this weekend.

The sobriety checkpoint will be conducted in an unannounced area in Bristol County from Saturday, November 10 through Sunday, November 11.

Colonel Kerry A. Gilpin, Superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police, says the purpose of the sobriety checkpoint is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public's awareness to the need of detecting and removing motorists operating under the influence of alcohol or drugs from the roadways.

The checkpoint will be operated during varied hours, the selection of vehicles will not be arbitrary, safety will be assured, and inconveniences to motorists will be minimized, according to a press release.
