The Associated Press announced their NFL All-Pro team for the 2016 season, Friday, and the New England Patriots had one single representative honored; Matthew Slater.

The selection is the first of Slater's nine year career.

Slater was named to the team as a special teamer, after another successful season with the Pats. The six time special teams captain also was named to his sixth consecutive Pro Bowl, earlier this season.

The All-Pro selection caps what is sure to be a memorable week for Slater, who was named the 2017 Athletes in Action Bart Starr Award recipient in front of his entire team Monday.

Slater and his father, Hall-of-Famer Jackie Slater, who won the same award in 1996, became the first father-son duo to be honored for their community service and outreach abilities.
