Shots Fired In The South End

New Bedford Police are investigating after five shell casings were found near Bluefield Street and Matthew Street early Thursday morning.

Detective Captain Steven Vicente says that gunshots were detected in the area at roughly 3:40 am by the department's shot spotter system.

So far no injuries or property damage have been reported.
