SEEKONK — Seekonk police have caught the suspect in a gas station break-in after a K9 officer and his partner helped track down the man, according to a post from the department.

Police said at around 2 a.m. Thursday morning, a patrol officer saw the Gulf gas station at 1035 Newman Ave. was darkened.

According to the post, the officer stopped to investigate, knowing that the business was usually not dark at that time.

He found the gas station had been broken into and called for back up.

Police said K9 Zuzo and his handler, Sergeant Steven Fundakowski, arrived to assist.

They tracked and found the male suspect nearby with several items from the gas station allegedly in his possession, police said in the post.

He was arrested and identified as 34-year-old Gary Barbosa of East Providence.

Barbosa has been charged with felony breaking and entering and several other related charges.
