Seekonk Man Sentenced for Repeat Child Porn Offenses
SEEKONK — A Seekonk man with a prior child porn conviction will spend more than 10 years in prison after he was sentenced Tuesday in federal court on repeat child pornography charges.
The U.S. Attorney's Office said 45-year-old Sean Trahan was sentenced to 126 months, or 10 and a half years, in prison and five years of supervised release earlier this week.
As a repeat offender, Trahan's mandatory minimum sentence was 10 years in prison.
Trahan pleaded guilty last October to two counts of possessing child pornography and one count of access with intent to view child pornography.
It was his second conviction on child porn charges, after an undercover investigation found he had used the dark web to access child porn in February 2015.
A search of Trahan's home in October 2015 revealed illegal images on his personal computer.
He was released on conditions that included monitoring of his cell phone, but was arrested again in September 2021 for violating the terms of his release.
Trahan has remained in custody since then, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
He was charged last October with superseding violations after further investigation linked him to a username that posted child porn in a Kik messenger group.
Authorities also found child pornography on Trahan's tabled during another search of his home in September 2021.
