Attleboro Man With Prior Federal Conviction Pleads Guilty to CSAM Charges
BOSTON (WBSM) — An Attleboro man who was previously convicted on federal child pornography charges pleaded guilty on Wednesday to possessing child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Gerard R. Proulx, Jr., 60, pleaded guilty in federal court in Boston to one count of possessing child pornography.
Federal Online Investigation Leads to Attleboro Home Search
The charging documents state that in Summer 2025, law enforcement investigating child pornography online downloaded multiple files from an IP address registered to Proulx. Investigators searched his home on February 25, 2026, and found various electronic devices, including a desktop computer that contained over 1,500 files consistent with CSAM.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said investigators continue their forensic examination of Proulx’s devices.

History of Prior Federal Child Pornography Conviction
He was previously convicted of possessing child pornography in Rhode Island in 2012, and served 30 months in federal prison as a result.
Penalties and Upcoming Federal Sentencing Date
That prior conviction means that Proulx faces at least 10 years and up to 20 years in prison on the new charge, at least five years and up to a lifetime of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000.
Proulx is currently being held and is scheduled for sentencing on January 7, 2027.
