More time is needed before a vote on Innovation schools. That was the determination of New Bedford's School Committee Tuesday, which voted to postpone the decision from January 14th to a future date.

A discussion of the State Law regarding the timeline for approving Innovation schools revealed several steps must take place before a final vote, including a public hearing, and negotiations between the new schools and teachers' union. School Committeeman Jack Livramento says if those two sides cant come to an agreement, an arbitrator will have to step in...which could add weeks to the process.

The two Innovation schools must submit their final plans by December 15th to the School Committee for review.
