Police have released the identity of the man killed in a weekend traffic crash in Attleboro.

Police said Tuesday that 37-year-old Nuna Veiga of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, was the driver of a car that struck an SUV from behind at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

The Sun Chronicle reports that Veiga was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Veiga's passenger and the 39-year-old woman driving the SUV, which was stopped at a red light, were also hospitalized.

Witnesses say Veiga's car burst into flames, which were extinguished by passers-by.

The crash remains under investigation.
