According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia is likely to become the next head coach of the Detroit Lions.

In heading to Detroit, Patricia will reconnect with Bob Quinn, a former member of New England's front office. Quinn is the GM in Detroit and provides an enticing pull for Patricia to take his first gig as a head coach.

While nothing will be finalized until the Patriots' postseason run is over, it is expected that the decision has been made by both parties.

Patricia is the first of three New England assistants to have received interviews for head coaching jobs to get and take a job.

Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is considered to be the front runner for the open Indianapolis job, while defensive assistant Brian Flores is in the running for the Arizona job. Flores could be promoted to coordinator in New England, if he doesn't get the job in Arizona.
