According to the Boston Herald's Jeff Howe, the Pats are intrigued by the prospect of going after Sherman, should Butler find his way out of town one way or another.

Trading Butler for Sherman, which is what the series of moves that lead to the final outcome would basically amount to, would definitely put the Pats in an even more favorable position than they are already in.

Not only is Sherman substantially taller than the diminutive Butler, but he is also an absolute star, who is under contract for the next two seasons.

In sevens seasons, Sherman has never missed a game. He has recorded 30 interceptions, 332 tackles and 92 passes defensed, in his 96 regular season games.

Whether this all comes to fruition, it will be very interesting to see what the Pats ultimately do regarding some of the league's top corners.
