REPORT: Armed Man Barricades Himself in Wareham Motel

UPDATE 10:30 A.M. - One man is in custody and is being transported to a nearby medical facility to undergo a psychiatric evaluation and treatment for puncture wounds from dog bite.

WAREHAM - Wareham Police and neighboring law enforcement agencies are responding to a motel where an occupant has reportedly barricaded himself in a room.

According to scanner reports, Wareham Police were called to the Silver Lake Motel in the 3000 block of Cranberry Highway before 9 a.m. to investigate a report that a man claiming to have a firearm had locked himself in one of the rooms at the motel.

Wareham's SEMLEC response team and a hostage negotiator have been called to the scene.
