REHOBOTH (WBSM) — Rehoboth Police arrested and charged a Springfield woman with allegedly stealing a check worth nearly $23,000 from the Town of Rehoboth.

According to police, Detective Arthur Beaudoin initially responded to a report of a stolen check from the Town of Rehoboth Treasurer on October 9, 2024. The check had been made payable to a vendor that performed a job for the Town in the amount of $22,818.33.

Police said the check was altered and made payable to a Jordyn Richardson.

Beaudoin’s investigation revealed that Richardson, 23, of Springfield allegedly deposited the altered check into her Bank of America account via an ATM.

Richardson has been charged with larceny over $1,200, forgery of a check, uttering a false check and conspiracy. She is slated to be arraigned in Taunton District Court on February 20.

According to police, there was also an unidentified man involved with the larceny and altering of the check as well.
