After leaving his first spring training start Saturday, in the first inning, Boston Red Sox starter Drew Pomeranz has been diagnosed with a mild flexor strain.

Pomeranz, who suffered the injury to his left elbow, threw just 17 pitches on Saturday before leaving the team's spring game against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora told the media that he felt "pretty confident" that Pomeranz would be fine long term.

The lefty has battled injury problems throughout his career, so, while this injury is considered to be minor, it is important to keep an eye on the pitcher's health moving forward.
