Police: Wareham Suspect Shot Man With BB Gun
A man was shot in the face with a BB gun Saturday night and a suspect was quickly arrested, according to Wareham police.
At around 10:49 p.m. Wareham police responded to a reported shooting on Swifts Beach Road and received information that the suspect had fled the scene in a dark-colored pick-up truck. Officers were able to determine who the suspect was and where he lived, according to a media release from Wareham Police Chief John Walcek.
Officers proceeded to the suspect’s residence at 815 Main St., Apt. C. Police say they observed the truck parked in a space and noticed a BB gun on the front console. When the suspect opened his apartment door, officers advised him he was under arrest. The suspect resisted, attempted to shut the door, and "continued to resist arrest flailing his arms" before being handcuffed, police said.
After the suspect was subdued, officers say they located a loaded firearm tucked in his waistband.
Bryan Ewan, 62, was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, possession of a firearm without a permit, possession of ammunition without a permit, and resisting arrest. The man who was shot received non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say it was not a random incident.
In an unrelated matter, on Sunday evening Wareham police arrested a man on two active warrants. Allen Burr, 56, of 33 Brown Street, was placed into custody.
