Six Displaced After Explosion Sparks House Fire in Plymouth
PLYMOUTH (WBSM) — Six people were displaced following an explosion and structure fire in Plymouth this morning.
Plymouth Fire Chief Neil Foley said firefighters responded to a 911 call just before 10 a.m. reporting an explosion and a fire at 35 Haven Road.
Crews arrived to find heavy fire pouring out of the second floor in the front of the two-and-a-half-story home. The occupants of the home had made it out on their own before the fire department arrived.

Firefighters Faced Limited Water Supply
Firefighters were able to quickly get the blaze under control, extinguishing the fire within about 20 minutes, Foley said. They had to use the water supplies kept on their engines because there was a lack of hydrants in that area of town.
"We were able to knock down the fire with water we brought with us to the scene," Chief Foley said. "The first arriving engine recognized what we needed to do and were able to make a transitional attack on the fire, keeping it out of the attic space. We made an interior attack and extinguished the fire."
"They had a lot of work to do without a continuous water supply, but they did a great job of preventing the fire from getting into the attic and completely engulfing the home," he said.
Residents Escape Safely, No Injuries Reported
No injuries were reported but one of the residents of the home was evaluated at the scene.
The six displaced residents of the home are now being helped by the American Red Cross.
Cause Remains Under Investigation
The cause of the explosion and the fire is under investigation by the Plymouth Fire Department and the Massachusetts State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit attached to the State Fire Marshal's Office.
