WAREHAM –Two people struck by a scenic train in Wareham Saturday night have been confirmed dead.

Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz says at approximately 7:29 p.m., Wareham Police were notified by the operator of the scenic train that two pedestrians had been struck as it was passing through the intersection of Freight House Road and Minot Avenue.

Upon arrival, the two victims, a male and female, were determined to be deceased on scene and an investigation commenced.

The train was a scenic train carrying numerous passengers at the time of impact, and originated in Buzzards Bay. No passengers riding on the train were injured. Preliminarily, it appears the deceased victims were on the tracks at the time they were struck. The investigation is ongoing.

State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, Wareham Police and the MBTA are investigating.
