A car belonging to Patriots player Brandon Spikes was found abandoned on I-495 in Foxboro.

Massachusetts State Police say troopers responded to the scene around 3:30 a.m. Sunday after receiving a report of a vehicle in the median strip.

OnStar told police they received a report from the driver that the vehicle, identified as 2011 Mercedes Maybach, had struck a deer.

The vehicle did have damage to its front end but no deer was located and the driver had left the scene.

Brandon Spikes was listed as the vehicle's registered owner.

A short time later troopers responded a short time later to a report that a 2009 Nissan Murano was rear-ended on I-495 northbound near where the Mercedes had been abandoned.

The three occupants of the vehicle, identifed as a 51-year-old man, a 32-year-old woman, and a 12-year-old boy all residents from Billerica, were taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.

No charges have been filed at this time and State Police say it hasn't been determined that the two incidents are related, but an investigation is ongoing.

The Associated Press says a Patriots spokesman says the team is aware of the situation, Spikes' agent didn't respond to an email the AP sent on Sunday.
