REHOBOTH — A man has died after a crash between a compact car and a trash truck in Rehoboth earlier today, with another person injured in the incident.

Rehoboth police said that just before noon on Wednesday, police, fire and EMS responded to Tremont Street at Agricultural Avenue for a car crash with two people injured.

The heavily damaged compact car was found in the woods near the intersection, according to police.

One of the injured people had to be extricated from the car using the jaws of life, and both were taken to Rhode Island Hospital.

Police said the man who was extricated from the car later succumbed to his injuries.

The second person's condition is unknown.

According to police, the occupants of the trash truck were uninjured.

Neither person's name was released.

The crash is under investigation by Rehoboth Police with help from state police and the Bristol County District Attorney's Office.
