New Bedford Police are investigating a Thursday night crash in the North End that left a partially-crushed vehicle on its roof and resulted in no apparent injuries.

The car struck a tree and then hit part of the Pa Raffa's Italian Restaurant building before rolling over, said department spokesman Lt. Nathaniel Rodriguez.

Rodriguez said police responded to a single-vehicle crash around 11 p.m. at Ashley Boulevard, and that the driver did not appear injured at the scene. New Bedford Emergency Medical Services Director Mark McGraw confirmed that there were no injuries reported that required an EMS response.

A manager for Pa Raffa's this morning said that the building did suffer some damage, and said the damage was being assessed by construction professionals this morning. He added that Pa Raffa's remains open for business as usual.

Pa Raffa's at 2857 Acushnet Ave. is located at the V-shaped intersection of Ashley Boulevard. The car swiped the rear of the building on the Ashley Boulevard side, a witness said.
