There will be night-time closures on the Berkley-Dighton Bridge beginning Sunday.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation says the closures will begin at 8:00 p.m. and go until 5:00 a.m. and will be in effect Sunday March 22 through Thursday March 26.

The bridge will also be closed between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. from Wednesday, March 25th through Thursday, March 26th.

Detour routes will be in place during the time of the closures.

MassDOT officials say traffic from Dighton to Berkley will head north along MA-138 N and turn right onto Fifth Street to continue onto West Water Street.

Traffic will then head southeast on Plain Street toward East Water Street, and continue south on East Water Street toward Berkley Street.

There will be a sight left onto Berkley Street, then traffic will follow through the end of the detour arriving at the intersection of Berkley Street and Elm Street.

Drivers coming from Berkley into Dighton will head northeast on Berkley Street toward Desautels Court, making a slight right onto East Water Street.

Traffic will then head northwest on Plain Street toward West Water Street, and after that travel southwest on West Water Street toward Staples Avenue.

There will be a light right onto Fifth Street, then traffic will turn left onto Somerset Avenue, continue onto Lawton Avenue, and continue onto MA-138 S/Somerset Avenue arriving at the Center Street intersection.

Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes during the closures.

Those traveling in the area are told they should expect delays and are being told to reduce speed and use caution while driving along the detour routes.

Officials say work could be delayed or re-scheduled depending on weather.
