New Bedford-Fairhaven Bridge Stuck for Second Time in 5 Days
UPDATE: The bridge reopened at around 3:47 p.m.
NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — For the second time in less than a week, the New Bedford-Fairhaven Bridge is stuck and closed to vehicular traffic.
Yet again, a “mechanical issue” is impacting the bridge’s ability to properly close. That means vehicles cannot cross the Route 6 swing bridge that connects New Bedford and Fairhaven.
The closure is expected to last "several hours," according to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.

It comes just five days after the last incident, when on Thursday, May 7, a mechanical issue kept the bridge closed to vehicles for about seven and a half hours, according to the social media posts from MassDOT.
