Did you hear that 49ers rookie, Chris Borland, one of the NFL's premier rookies last season, is retiring at the ripe age of 24 because he's more concerned over head and brain injuries than making millions of dollars playing professional football. It wasn't that long ago, when Borland had the best game of his career with a two-interception performance against the Giants in November.

ESPN has been reporting Borland's decision to punt his entire pro career altogether rather than gamble on getting a head injury. He said he conferred with family, friends and experts on concussions before arriving at his final decision. Borland told the media, "I just honestly want to do what's best for my health. From what I've researched and what I've experienced, I don't think it's worth the risk."

I have a feeling of deep admiration for someone, like Borland, who respects himself more than money or fame. Plus, there aren't too many around who can say they retired at the age of 24!
