Confidence Workshop for Preteen Girls Coming to Mattapoisett This Weekend

NextGen Empowered Brings The Confidence Experience to Mattapoisett

A new workshop designed to helT preteen girls build confidence, find their voice, and connect with each other is coming to the SouthCoast this weekend. NextGen Empowered, founded by former model and Certified Confidence Coach Kimberly Gioioso, is hosting The Confidence Experience on Saturday, May 30 at 10 a.m. at the Knights of Columbus in Mattapoisett. The three-hour workshop is open to girls ages 11 to 13 and is limited to 15 participants.

What Is the NextGen Empowered The Confidence Experience?

Gioioso started NextGen Empowered to address something she sees happening to girls at an alarmingly young age. Research shows that confidence in girls begins to decline as early as age eight.

Gioioso said, "By the time girls reach 13, they're already questioning their worth, they're second-guessing their voice, and they're shrinking to fit into a world that tells them how they should look and what they should like."

What Happens During the Three Hour Workshop?

The workshop is broken into three parts. The first hour focuses on curriculum, where girls work through specially designed worksheets covering confidence, anxiety, and self-expression, while also practicing sharing highs and lows with one another. The second hour focuses on poise, posture, and confidence, where Gioioso teaches the girls how to carry themselves with purpose and own a room. The final hour wraps up with an empowerment photo shoot, giving each girl a chance to see herself through a
whole new lens.

"Sometimes they just need somebody who can help them see themselves, what they don't see yet," says Gioioso.

How Can Parents Stay Involved?

Gioioso, who coaches pageant prep, works as a judge and recruiter for the Miss MA and Miss Teen MA pageants, also offers an eight-week online program. It includes bi-weekly Zoom calls with parents, keeping families connected to what their daughters are learning and building a support group for parents as well.
