New Downtown New Bedford Cafe Opens

There's a new cafe in downtown New Bedford in a familiar place. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Tuesday at Tia Maria's European Cafe, formally the Old Celtic Coffee House, at 42 North Water Street in the Historic District.

Owners and New Bedford residents, Robert and Jessica Savage, say they had a vision to bring a little taste of Portugal to Downtown New Bedford.

They worked with the Greater New Bedford Career Center to recruit workers for their cafe and hired 7 people to work there.

The Cafe is open until 4 pm serving breakfast and lunch.
