In just a few months, the mound of dirt that was once the Custom House Square parking lot will be New Bedford's Central Park on a much smaller scale.

City and State officials broke ground on the site Monday afternoon. New Bedford native Chris Reed, a designer for Stoss Landscaping, says the new park will serve simply as a place where people can unwind....

Reed designed the park for his hometown free of charge. The park, being funded through a $300,000 grant, should be completed by late this summer.
