NEW BEDFORD — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) announced it will be performing bridge repairs on Route 140 northbound over Braley Road in New Bedford.

The repairs for the bridge are scheduled to begin on this Sunday, May 1, and continue every following week, Monday through Friday, during the low traffic hours of 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The work is expected to continue throughout the next two months, and finish in early July.

A standard momentary traffic control management operation will be utilized including various lane and shoulder closures and the common use of police detail officers.

A minimum of one open travel lane will be consistently open at all times on both sides of Braley Road.

Drivers who are traveling through the mentioned areas should expect delays and slower speeds, and should practice caution.

All scheduled work may be affected by unforeseen weather events or other factors.
