The City of New Bedford continues to do all it can to promote bicycle usage in the city.

Thanks to a $20,000 grant from a regional planning agency, SERPEDD, the city has purchased 163 new bike racks.  They're being placed at parks, beaches and schools.

Kim Ferreira of Mass in Motion - New Bedford says its all about encouraging people to use their bikes. "Absolutely, you need to have an enviroment set up  says Ferreira, so that people feel safe and comfortable getting their bikes out into the city."

Ferreira says the city has also been involved in creating bike lanes on roadways, to again encourage bicycle usage in New Bedford.
