In collaboration with New Bedford's police, the community also has the chance to be part of the excitement. The department encourages anyone to sign up no matter your expertise level.

Whether you're a seasoned golfer or just starting, your contribution will go to a great cause that surpasses any skills you have.

According to the department, all the funds raised will go directly back to the community through donations to youth, community organizations, scholarships, etc.

Registration allows you to create a team of four, so choose your teammates wisely. On August 12, teams will arrive on the green at 9 a.m. at the Whaling City Golf Course.

Tickets are $125, and prices include a shirt, lunch, a gift bag and prizes. Although the tournament is weeks away, the July 29 registration deadline is approaching fast.

Even if you're not a golfer but know someone who is, invite them to share the experience.

Summer always creates opportunities to get out into the community, and New Bedford's Annual golf tournament is another way to make those moments happen.

Overall, it will be a day for the community to raise money and give back.
