New Bedford Police Arrest Three on Drug Charges
NEW BEDFORD — Members of the New Bedford Police narcotics unit made three arrests Thursday.
Police made two arrests as part of an investigation into street-level drug sales in the city's South End. Two men were observed in a narcotics transaction in the area of Washington and Crapo streets.
Hilberto Louis DeSouza, 55, of 91 County St., New Bedford, was charged with possession of cocaine and conspiracy to violate drug laws. He was found with a small amount of cocaine. Jaylene Fernandes, 21, of 869 Brock Ave., New Bedford, was charged with distribution of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, conspiracy to violate drug laws and on an outstanding warrant. He was found with a small amount of cocaine and $321 in cash.
Both men were arrested at about 2 p.m.
Police later executed a search warrant at about 6:30 p.m. at 96 Division St. second floor east as part of an investigation into Fentanyl distribution out of that address. As a result, police seized a small amount of Fentanyl, cocaine and Suboxone. Police also seized packaging materials, a digital scale and a small amount of cash.
Ashley Borges, 29, of 96 Division St. second floor east, was arrested for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of Fentanyl with intent to distribute and possession of Suboxone with intent to distribute.
She was arrested at 6:53 p.m.
