
Plymouth Man Arrested for Gun, Drugs After New Bedford Shooting
NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — New Bedford Police arrested a Plymouth man Wednesday after he was shot in the leg.
Police Respond to Reports of Shots Fired
Police said that on December 10, just after 5:30 p.m., officers responded to multiple reports of shots fired in the area of County Street. They arrived to find a motor vehicle crash nearby on Spring Street, and learned that the driver of the vehicle had fled the scene on foot.
Officers found the driver suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower left leg. He was identified as Tyrell Sanchez, 31, of Plymouth, and taken to the hospital for treatment.

Search Yields Firearm, Drugs and Cash
According to police, a search of Sanchez’s vehicle turned up a Glock 43 handgun loaded with five 9mm rounds, two plastic bags of cocaine weighing over two kilos, and $2,200 in cash. Police said Sanchez does not have a Massachusetts license to carry firearms.
Detectives learned that shots had been fired at Sanchez prior to the crash. A nearby residence was also damaged by gunfire in the incident.
Charges Filed Against Sanchez
Sanchez was arrested and charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and trafficking in 200 grams or more of cocaine.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
