$140 Taco Bell Order Shocks New Bedford Drive-Thru
Somebody in New Bedford wanted to "Live Mas" this past weekend.
On Friday, August 15 at around 3:30 p.m., my friend Meghan Trudelle rolled into the Taco Bell drive-thru on Rockdale Avenue in New Bedford. After a long week at work, she was craving an end-of-the-week quesadilla to kick off her weekend with a little “TB” (Taco Bell) fuel.
What was supposed to be a quick and simple snack run turned into one of the most bizarre fast-food encounters I’ve ever heard.
A Jaw-Dropping Total
As Meghan pulled up to the order screen, she froze. Staring back at her wasn’t her order, but the leftovers of the previous customer’s tab. The total: a whopping $138.51.
Yes, you read that right: nearly $140 worth of Taco Bell. Through a drive-thru.
“I couldn’t believe my eyes,” Meghan told me.
Too Many Chalupas to Count
Now, I’m not here to shame anyone, but let’s be real – ordering that much food through a drive-thru feels a little outrageous. Where’s the courtesy for the people waiting behind you?
Thankfully, Meghan was in the clear. The person responsible for the order was long gone by the time she pulled up. Still, I had too many questions to let this slide, so I picked up the phone and called the Rockdale Ave Taco Bell myself.

The Real Story Behind the Receipt
According to a worker at the location, the massive order wasn’t actually placed at the drive-thru window. It was an online order, and apparently, those still get displayed on the outside order screen. So no, there wasn’t a car holding up the line for $140 worth of tacos and burritos.
Still, it makes you wonder, how much food is that really? Enough to feed a whole party? A small army? Or maybe just one really, really hungry person.
My Personal Record
For comparison, the most I’ve ever personally spent at a fast-food drive-thru was $28 (weak, I know). Honestly, that stung. Prices are sky-high these days, but $140? That’s next-level.
