NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — New Bedford Police responded to two separate shooting incidents in the city during the late night/early morning hours Wednesday into Thursday, and ended up arresting one person.

Police said officers responded to a report of ShotSpotter activation at around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 18 in the area of Cedar Street and Parker Street.

Shell casings were located upon police arrival, where police also discovered that a vehicle and nearby residence had been damaged. Detectives later arrived on the scene to provide further investigation into the incident.

At around 2 a.m. on October 19, officers responded to a residence in the North End in response to an adult male gunshot victim. Police said that the shooting was likely the result of a domestic disturbance and placed an adult female suspect in custody.

Upon investigation, a lawfully-owned firearm was also discovered and seized, according to police. The victim remains in critical condition at this time.
