There's a mistrial in one of the most famous missing persons cases in America.

Etan Patz went missing in 1979 at the age of six in New York City and became the first kid to be featured on the side of a milk carton.

After 18 days of deliberation, a Manhattan jury was unable to decide whether the man who confessed to the crime was actually guilty. A lone juror refused to convict Pedro Hernandez.

Hernandez's lawyers claimed he was mentally ill and had been coerced by police into making a confession.
