Middleboro Hosts Antonio Banderas for Filming of Anthony Bourdain Movie

Middleboro recently went Hollywood as scenes were filmed in town for the upcoming movie about celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain that will feature Antonio Banderas.

The film industry really has taken a liking to filming on the SouthCoast in recent years. The filming for the Bourdain biopic mostly took place in and around Lolans Farm. We knew they would be shooting in Massachusetts but were unsure of exactly where and when. The last we heard a few months ago, they were still casting for the film.

Tony, the Bourdain biopic, follows the chef's early life and career. Many of us remember Bourdain as a one of a kind character that was relentless in the kitchen.

While the role Banderas is playing in the biopic has been pretty hush hush, we can tell you now that he is playing the role of a local chef that had a big influence on Bourdain and introduced him to the farm-to-table concept.

While Bourdain was born in New York and spent most of his young life in New Jersey, he ventured up to Massachusetts during the early days of his cooking career and worked at a few seafood restaurants in Provincetown and most notably, The Lobster Pot.

The production company behind producing the biopic is Massachusetts-based A24 Films Inc. and it will be filming in more locations towards the Cape in the coming weeks. Several of the production company's employees actually played some on-screen small filler roles.

According to this recent Facebook post, the film may be on the big screen within the next four to six months with plenty of familiar back drops of our great state.

We have heard from numerous sources that Bourdain was kind and very professional all while immersing himself in the local culture and food.

Filming will continue through most of July so if you head towards the Cape you may find yourself rubbing elbows with Banderas.
