MIDDLEBORO (WBSM) — A juvenile girl perished in a fatal fire in Middleboro early this morning.

Middleboro Fire and Police were dispatched to 27 Pearl Street at about 2 a.m. this morning for a report of a structure fire with people trapped inside.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire coming from the first and second floors of the home. A juvenile female was reportedly trapped inside, but the heavy fire conditions prevented firefighters from entering the home to attempt to rescue her.

Once the fire was knocked down, they entered to find the juvenile girl deceased inside the home. Her identity has not been released.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Middleboro Fire Department, Middleboro Police, the Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit attached to the State Fire Marshal's Office and the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office.
