Middleboro’s Dave’s Diner Debunks Rumor of Impending Closing
Dave’s Diner in Middleboro is not closing, despite an online rumor that was circulating Monday morning. In fact, the business may soon be growing.
A since-deleted post appeared in the Middleboro Helping Middleboro Facebook group on Monday from a “Jeff Phfizer” which stated: “Good morning my fellow Dave’s Diner enthusiasts, it is with a heavy heart that I must announce and pass on the message from Dave Fischer (sic) himself, Dave’s Diner will be permanently closing at the end of the summer of 2022.”
We reached out to Dave’s Diner to find out if there was any truth to the rumor, and spoke with Jack Spinetto, the operations manager.
“It’s not true whatsoever!” Spinetto said. “I don't know where that false rumor came from. Business here is very good, and we're thinking about doing some expansion soon.”
Spinetto, who has been with the diner since it opened 23 years ago, has been in the restaurant business for 45 years, so he knows how the rumor mill goes. He’s also built a solid relationship with David Fisher, the owner of the diner, for almost as many years.
“(We) worked together at El Toritos and Legal Seafoods. He went down to open his own place, The Fireside, and I stayed with the restaurant chains, until this piece of property opened up,” Spinetto said. “He called me and said, ‘Hey, I'm going to open a diner in Middleboro. You want to come down and run it for me?’ I said, ‘Absolutely, when do you want me to give my notice?’ and I've been here ever since.”
If and when the expansion does happen, we’ll be sure to provide you with all the details. For now, though, just be assured that Dave’s Diner isn’t going anywhere.
