The fans have spoken, and they want offensive tackle Matt Light to be the latest former Patriot inducted into the team's Hall of Fame.

The team announced today that Light was selected, over linebacker Mike Vrabel and defensive end Richard Seymour, by the fans as the 27th member of New England's Patriots Hall of Fame.

Spending all 11 of his NFL seasons with the Patriots, Light won three Super Bowl championships and served as one of the team's top offensive linemen throughout his tenure.

Playing largely at left tackle, Light had the tough task of protecting Tom Brady's. For his solid efforts at the position, he was named to the Patriots' 50th Anniversary Team in 2009.

The former second round pick is also one of five players all-time to appear in five Super Bowls, with his quarterback, Tom Brady, leading the group with eight trips.

Light will be honored with an induction ceremony that is free and open to the public on Saturday, September 29. The ceremony will take place at the NRG Plaza outside The Hall at Patriot Place presented by Raytheon.

The festivities will carry on to the next day as well, as Light will also be honored at halftime of the team's September 30 home game against the Miami Dolphins.
