Massachusetts State House Will Host Historical Play
A theatrical performance will be presented in the historic State Senate Chambers in the Massachusetts State House on Beacon Hill in Boston.
State House News Service reporter Sam Doran reported that "A Light Under the Dome" will be performed "literally under the State House's Golden Dome in the historic 1798 chamber next month."
Doran said that two years ago, actors "took over the Senate Chamber to try out the draft of a historical play."
"They're coming back in August to perform the finished product for a live audience," Doran wrote.

There will be eight performances of "A Light Under the Dome" from Tuesday, August 13 through Friday, August 16, 2024. Tickets for the production can be obtained, at no cost, on the National Park Service website.
"A Light Under the Dome" was written by Patrick Gabridge and will be directed by Courtney O'Connor.
TicketTailor.com says, "This play depicts the moment when exiled Southerner Angelina Grimke becomes the first American woman to address a legislative body at the Massachusetts State House on February 21, 1883."
The site says Grimke's "powerful speech about abolition also firmly asserts the full citizenship of American women."
Gabridge says on his website, "We've been developing this play for the past few years, but it was always a big gamble as to whether we could get all the pieces to line up."
"This feels like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I'm glad we've got a great team in place to make it happen," he said.
"A Light Under the Dome" was commissioned in partnership with the National Park Service.
