Ozempic, Mounjaro, Wegovy, Zepbound – many folks are interested these days in the new wave of injectable weight loss drugs, and Massachusetts residents are no exception.

A website called FeastGood.com recently used Google Trends data to see which states were most interested in weight-loss drugs, and Massachusetts came in 12th place nationally.

Ozempic and Mounjaro were first designed to help diabetics lower their A1C, but once it was discovered how much weight people lost using them, they became highly-sought for anyone looking to shed some pounds.

Wegovy and Zepbound are versions of Ozempic and Mounjaro that the FDA recently approved solely for use for weight loss.

As someone who has lost about 80 pounds in eight months on Mounjaro, I can tell you it has made all the difference in my decades-long struggle to lose weight. No wonder so many people are searching for more information about these drugs.

The problem is, they’re so popular that people with a prescription are having a hard time getting them. An injectable takes more time to produce than a pill, so the drug manufacturers are still trying to get the supply caught up to the demand.

It also doesn’t help that many health insurance companies are not yet covering the cost of these weight loss drugs, meaning people must pay hundreds of dollars a month out of pocket if they actually can acquire them.

With so many celebrities going on Ozempic and other weight loss drugs – and then publicly endorsing them – you would think California or New York would rank highest in the states where people are searching for information on them, but the top state for weight loss drug searches is actually quite surprising: it’s Delaware.

Rhode Island, the smallest state in the U.S., came in fifth.
