The Massachusetts Democratic Party issued a statement claiming to be "deeply saddened and horrified" by the assassination of Christian and political activist Charlie Kirk on September 10, 2025, on the campus of Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.

In the statement, Massachusetts Democratic Party Chair Steve Kerrigan said, "This political violence must be condemned in all forms. Regardless of political party or ideologies, we must be able to come together to address our differences peacefully."

"We join with leaders and voices from across the political spectrum in stating unequivocally that acts of violence have no place in our politics ever," Kerrigan concluded.

Massachusetts Governor, U.S. Senators Condemn Kirk's Assassination

Massachusetts Democratic Governor Maura Healey also issued a statement following Kirk's murder.

"Violence has no place in our politics – ever," Healey said. "What happened to Charlie Kirk is horrific, and we condemn it in the strongest possible terms."

U.S. Senator Ed Markey also condemned the shooting, saying, "There must be no place for this heinous violence in America," while Senator Elizabeth Warren posted to X, "This shooting is nothing short of horrific."

"Political violence has no place in our country – it is never ok," Warren posted.

MA Democrats Are Responsible for the Rhetoric

We should take Massachusetts Democrats at their word that they are, in fact, "horrified" by Kirk's murder, but at the same time remind them that words have consequences.

When Warren routinely refers to President Donald Trump as a "white supremacist" and "racist bully," and Markey says Trump is a "threat to American democracy" and "authoritarian," and Healey calls Trump "absolutely un-American," they energize and incentivize those who would act out violently.

If Massachusetts Democrats are truly "horrified" by the assassination of Charlie Kirk, and they should be, perhaps they could tone down the rhetoric to less provocative levels.
